Scholarship
Application Guidelines
Dear Scholarship Applicant:
We are encouraged
that you have decided to apply for a BEMA Scholarship
for a course, program, seminar or workshop you have
attended or plan to attend. Please complete forms
A, B and C and return them to BEMA’s International
Headquarters in Overland Park, Kansas. BEMA has made
a major investment in scholarships and look forward
to receiving your application.
After we receive your completed
application the BEMA Scholarship Review Committee will review it. Shortly
thereafter, we will notify you of the results of its decision.

Eligibility Requirements.
Note, there are unique and specific requirements for the different scholarship
programs provided by BEMA.
1. BEMA offers three scholarship
opportunities. Each has specific criteria:
A. Belshaw-Loeb Scholarship
Fund
1) Scholarships are limited
to the Baking Science and Technology or Maintenance Engineering courses
sponsored by the American Institute of Baking (AIB).
2) Scholarships are open for
individuals entering or working in the baking industry. The AIB shall
recommend qualified persons to the trustees for review and selection.
3) Requirements
a.
Complete a BEMA Scholarship Application (Form A)
b. Submit a letter of support on company letterhead
from the principal of the company for each course
indicating the value of the course and how it will
benefit the company.
c.

B. Bill Pulver Scholarship
Fund
1) Scholarships are open to
individuals employed by current BEMA member companies for courses, programs,
seminars or workshops sponsored in the United States.
2) Requirements
a. Complete a BEMA Scholarship
Application (Form
A)
b.
Submit a letter of support on company letterhead
from the principal of the company for each course
indicating the value of the course and how it will
benefit the company.
c.
Submit information from the sponsoring organization
that summarizes the course, program, seminar or
workshop you took or wish to take.
C. General BEMA Scholarship
Fund
1) Scholarships are open to
individuals currently employed or entering the baking industry and for
any industry related educational courses, programs, seminars or workshops
sponsored in the United States.
2) Requirements
a. Complete
a BEMA Scholarship Application (Form
A)
b.
Submit a letter of support on company letterhead
from the principal of the company for each course
indicating the value of the course and how it will
benefit the company.
c. Submit
information from the sponsoring organization that
summarizes the course, program, seminar or workshop
you took or wish to take.
2.
Reimbursement
Procedure for All BEMA Scholarships
Payments will be made to the
company or individual making payment for the course, program, seminar
or workshop if the following requirements are met:
1. Submission of a paid invoice
for the course, program, seminar or workshop. 2.
Proof of payment (i.e., cancelled check, receipt, credit card slip,
etc.) 3. Proof that the
applicant completed the course, program, seminar or workshop.
4. Submission of a course, program,
seminar or workshop evaluation from the attendee (Form B). 5.
Submission of the applicant’s employer course, program, seminar
or workshop evaluation (Form C).
3.
Limitations
for All BEMA Scholarships
BEMA will pay up to 50% of
tuition or registration costs for the course, program, seminar or workshop
to a maximum of $2,500. Each company will be limited annually to a total
reimbursement of no more than $2,500.
