Airport Transfers

BEMA Connect

BEMA Connect – One Member, One Baker – Connecting

BEMA Connect introduces bakers to suppliers they aren’t currently working with and matches the baker’s needs with BEMA members’ specific solutions.  Speak one-on-one with bakers, speed dating style at this popular event.

Overview

Register to connect one-on-one in 15-minute meetings with two to three different baker guests on Friday, June 22 at Convention.  Please come prepared to make the most of this opportunity.  Matches are made by company, not individual member, so only one person from your company needs to complete the survey. To participate, registration will open on May 8th at 12:00 Noon CST and close May 11th at 5:00 CST.

The purpose of BEMA Connect is to encourage new opportunities and to match companies who may not have done business together in the past.

How It Works

Each member company is guaranteed at least two 15-minute meetings with two different baker guests at Convention. You may switch out a company representative for each meeting, but only one company representative may attend any one meeting.

We will hold two sessions with three meeting times each and a break in between each session.

Session 1:  9:30 am – 10:25 am

Break:  10:25 am – 10:40 am

Session 2:   10:40 am – 11:35 am

If you plan to participate in BEMA Connect, please block out your schedule to be at the event for the entire time.

The Matching Process

An impartial review committee will use the information provided through the survey from both parties (baker guests and you) to match the two groups so time spent is valuable for both.

Please note that we use your requested bakers as a guideline and cannot guarantee meetings with the bakers you list.

Small Group Baker Dinners

Small Group Dinners with Bakers

At Convention, Small Group Dinners with Bakers is a unique opportunity for members to network with our baker guests over a good meal.  On Thursday and Friday night, BEMA will organize groups of bakers and suppliers – spouses/guests included – to enjoy local cuisine at various locations near the resort. These dinners require advance registration.  To participate, registration will open on May 8^th at 12:00 Noon CST and close May 11^th at 5:00 CST on a first-come, first served basis.

Important Details:

• An email with the link to sign up will be sent to the email address you provided when you registered for 2018 Convention.
• Space is limited and fills up fast! Complete survey as soon as possible

• Members will be assigned to a dinner based on baker preference and the order in which the request was made.
• It is best to rank as many bakers as possible within your survey.
• Member companies can send representatives to more than one dinner in a single night, but only one representative from each member company will be in attendance at each baker table.
• ONLY registrations made via the link below will be accepted.  Please do not call or email requests to BEMA staff for a dinner.

We are shaking up tours a little this year!  First – you can book on two afternoons – Wednesday and Thursday. Next – you’ll book directly with Cabo Adventures, a first-class, local tour company – they are offering a 15% discount for BEMA members.

Activity availability for BEMA tour sessions is limited and offered on a first-come, first served basis.  Please book early for best selection with the BEMA groups on Wednesday and Thursday afternoon. Additional activities are available through Cabo Adventures’ regular daily bookings. You may book directly through them for additional days and times.  Please keep in mind that BEMA business sessions, golf tournament are held in the morning and that BEMA hosts events in the evening; plan your activities accordingly!

Reservation Policy/Cancellation Policy/Restrictions

RESERVATION POLICY

Guests will be sent a secure credit card authorization form to complete and return to Cabo Adventures to guarantee their reservations.

CANCELLATION POLICY

• Cancel 24 hours or more before your scheduled tour – no charge
• Cancel 12 to 24 hours before the tour – 50% charge
• Cancel less than 12 hours before the tour or no show – 100% charge

RESTRICTIONS – PLEASE REVIEW

• Expectant mothers are not permitted on any tour/activity.
• Dolphin Programs. Each child 9 years or less must be accompanied by a paying adult in the water. Cameras not permitted in the pool areas
• Off road adventure. Minimum age to drive is 18 years. Guests must produce a valid driving license. $30usd insurance fee to be paid on arrival per driver. Cameras not permitted during the tour
• Outdoor adventure. Minimum age to drive is 18 years. Guests must produce a valid driving license. $25usd insurance fee to be paid on arrival per vehicle. Cameras not permitted during the tour. Max weight 265lbs / 120kgs
• Snorkel & Sea Adventure. Max weight limit 265lbs / 120kgs
• Luxury Day Sailing. Guests must remove footwear before boarding

Golf Tournament

The BEMA Cup Golf Tournament, Cabo Real Golf Course

With great views of the Sea of Cortez, you’ll enjoy the course and the company at the annual BEMA golf tournament.  This scramble incorporates some fun rules to even the playing field.  Register for golf when you register for Convention.  BEMA’s Golf Tournament will be held in the morning on Tuesday, June 19, the first day of our meeting. Please plan your travel accordingly.

Right-handed or left-handed clubs are available for rent at a cost of $60 per set. Click here to rent golf clubs for the tournament.

Golf Tournament Transportation

The Cabo Real Golf Course is about 10-minutes from the Hilton.  The first motor coach to the golf course will depart from the Hilton Group Lobby at 7:00 am.  Additional shuttles will depart at 7:15 and 7:30 am.  Plan to leave on the early shuttle if you wish to visit the driving range. Return transportation will be provided and will depart from the course at 12:45 pm and 1:00 pm.   If you bring your own clubs to Cabo, please identify yourself as part of the BEMA golf tournament when you check your bags with the bellman upon arrival.  The hotel staff will pull your bags on the morning of the tournament and have them loaded onto the golf bag transport van.

How To Deduct Value Added Tax

VAT DEDUCTION

As a member of a group meeting for business in Mexico, your VAT (value added tax) charged to sleeping room rental fees can be deducted from your folio after the following items are provided to BEMA.  This will save you 16% per night.  To have the VAT deducted you MUST provide the following to the BEMA staff upon check in at THE BEMA REGISTRATION DESK:

• • 1. Copy of the Immigration Form* for EACH person, regardless of age, travelling with you.
    2. Copy of Passport for each person, regardless of age, travelling with you.

We can make copies of your passports and immigration cards at the BEMA registration desk and have extended hours to do so. Please bring them with you when you pick up your welcome packet and badges.

Does not apply to citizens of Mexico.

*The Immigration Form is provided either on your flight before you land in Mexico or at the immigration plaza at the airport. You will fill one out for EACH person in your party regardless of age. Immigration officials will give you the bottom portion of the form as you pass through their station.  KEEP THIS – BEMA WILL MAKE A COPY OF THIS FORM AND YOUR PASSPORTS UPON ARRIVAL AT THE HOTEL. You will be asked for the form again at the airport upon departure. 

BEMA Gives Back – Service Event

Throughout BEMA’s history, we’ve been driven by giving back to the industry and to the larger community.  This year BEMA families will get a chance to participate in BEMA’s first service day. We’ll help local agencies in Cabo with school supplies, first aid supplies, shoes and even bunk beds. After a simple breakfast on Saturday, everyone can pitch in!

TO PARTICIPATE

Sign up using the BEMA Gives Back Service Day Sign-Up Genius (link below) to select the school supplies and/or first aid supplies you want to bring. Individuals can bring 300 USD duty free per person in goods and merchandise into Mexico. It is recommended to carry receipts for all goods.

Then pack them in your suitcase or buy them once you arrive. There is a Costco, Walmart and other stores in Los Cabos that sell many of the requested donations. Sign up for the activity stations will be held at the event on Saturday morning.

Give your donations to the BEMA staff at the registration desk on Monday and Tuesday.

We’ve scaled back breakfast so that we can invest more time in the service activities, so enjoy a simple meal while we learn about the agencies we’ll help and the activities we’ll do.  You’ll also be given a chance to sign up for one of the activities.

10:15 am – Noon – Service Activities

Let’s get started!  Go to your assigned station and get to work.  We’ll have plenty of coordinators on hand to help and give instructions. All tools & supplies will be provided.

DESCRIPTION: Who we’ll help and what to do

ORGANIZE FIRST AID AND SCHOOL SUPPLY DONATIONS

Recipient: CAM – This school for special needs children needs supplies to help them through the school year.  We’ll organize the supplies into categories and count each box.

Helpers needed: Kids – this is a great job for little kids (with one parent)

ASSEMBLE BUNK BEDS & BABY CRIBS

Recipient:  Casa Hogar – This home for children in the foster system needs bunk beds for a new girls bedroom in their Cabo San Jose location they also need cribs at this location.  Teams of four will assemble each bed.

Helpers needed: Adults and older kids (sorry no little kids for this one)

PACK BACK PACKS WITH SCHOOL SUPPLIES

Recipient: Liga Mac is a service agency that provides short term assistance to families experiencing financial crisis (loss of job, hospitalization). When families come to them for help, they can give their kids a back pack to start the school year off right!

PAINTING SHOES

Recipient: Tree of Hope is an assistance program providing clothing and food for families that are not helped by other institutions. Each participant in this activity can paint a pair of White canvas shoes to be distributed by Tree of Hope.

BUILDING MATH BOARDS

Recipient: CIME is a daycare center for children and young adults with mental disabilities. Math boards are a tactile way for them to learn math skills.  BEMA families will cut and paint wooden pieces to fit on the math boards.

DELUXE ROOMS:

Deluxe King or Deluxe Double Queen

Full ocean view. For families, two connecting rooms (a king and a double queen) can be booked via the link.

VISTA ROOMS:

Vista rooms are a great value and include daily complimentary continental breakfast for two in the resort restaurant, El Meson, (a $30 value per day) plus reserved seating at the pool, complimentary pool snacks, beverages, afternoon snacks and tequila tasting in the lounge and more. Vista rooms are located on higher floors in the hotel.

Rollaway beds may be reserved for $37.50 plus tax, per stay (not per night).  Please ask the hotel for their policy regarding adding a rollaway bed to your room.

Sleeping room rates are quoted in US Dollars exclusive of applicable state and local taxes, fees and assessments. In the State of Baja California Sur currently government tax is 16%, lodging tax is 3% and service charge is 10%, all are subject to change without notice.

Government tax of 16% will be DEDUCTED from your room folio once copies of immigration cards and passports for your party are provided to the BEMA registration desk. See below.

The service charge is a union contracted fee which covers all porterage, bellman and housekeeping gratuity as well as all other non food and beverage gratuities such as front desk and public areas. Room rates listed above are available to BEMA guests 3 days before and 3 days after the program dates.
