Baking Industry Alliance and USO Pathfinder® join forces at IBIE

USO Pathfinder

Washington, D.C. – The Baking Industry Alliance (BIA) was established in early 2019 as part of the American Bakers Association’s (ABA) Strategic Plan with a mission to drive promotion and growth of the baking industry by harnessing the expertise and resources of organizations representing the industry. The BIA, composed of the volunteer member chairs and professional staff executives of American Bakers Association, AIB International, American Society of Baking, Allied Trades of the Baking Industry, Bakery Equipment Manufacturers and Allies, Grain Foods Foundation, and North American Millers Association, has focused its first-year efforts on addressing the issue of workforce retention and recruitment.

Recognizing the importance of engaging with military and veteran communities to help ease the transition from military career to the civilian workforce, the BIA will showcase the USO Pathfinder® program at the International Baking Industry Exposition (IBIE) in Las Vegas, Nevada, on September 10, 2019. Baking industry companies attending IBIE will have an opportunity to meet with USO Pathfinder representatives to share the vast array of career opportunities the baking industry offers transitioning service members and learn about how they can be a resource to this important program.

An estimated 200,000-plus service members transition out of the military each year. Each transition from military to civilian life is unique, and USO Pathfinder is there to help service members and military spouses through the process. Whether an individual needs help finding a civilian job that suits their skills and interest, securing financial stability, researching education options, or more – participants get a personalized Action Plan and one-on-one support from a USO Pathfinder Scout. Through the USO’s vast network of networks, Scouts connect individuals directly to best-in-class public and private resources across the nation that offer relevant services to transitioning service members and military spouses.
