If you have attended one of our annual meetings lately, you may have noticed a few new faces.  Kelly Allen, Manager, Membership and Special events sat down with one of the newer BEMA members, Amie Boydt  to learn a little about the company she works for and what she’s hoping to gain from BEMA and its members.

Q. Tell us about your role do at Borregard?
A. I’m the Director of Sales – The Americas.  I manage the sales, strategy and business aspects of our Vanillin Group within the US, Canada & Latin America

Q: Can you tell us a little about Borregarrd? 
A:   For more than 125 years, Borregaard has provided sustainable solutions based on renewable raw materials and unique competence.  Food safety and public health are central/critical for ourselves and our customers, and we take pride in delivering only the safest products to the market, by rigidly following the highest standards in the food ingredient world.  Borregard is one of the world’s leading suppliers of Vanillin and Ethyl Vanillin.  The company is unique in manufacturing Vanillin from wood (Norwegian Spruce).  This product has a quality preferred by many customers and we offer a wide range of specially adapted varieties of Vanillin for different applications, such as chocolate, sweets, bakery and dairy products.

Q:  Why did you join BEMA?
A:  The bakery industry is an important category for Borregaard and our products.  As we expand our customer base for new and existing products, we are focusing on working more directly with companies manufacturing retail food products.  A key aspect for success in this endeavor is finding the right industry groups which allow us to create and build these relationships.  After researching BEMA with respect to its membership and program offerings, we felt that it would be an ideal fit.

Q. What do you hope to gain from being a BEMA member?
A:  Through BEMA, we look forward to meeting members and bakers as a way to further expand our understanding of the industry and build new relationships.
