Jennifer Lindsey is the VP of Global Marketing for Corbion, focused on leading a talented team of market insights researchers, strategic marketers, and marcom professionals in the segment of high functioning food ingredient solutions in the B2B space. She started her career in marketing because she is a food scientist who is also intrigued by the consumer and market connection to the science. “I believe my job is to turn the science into the ‘so what'”. She loves being a Global Marketing VP because she really loves this industry and engaging with colleagues around the globe.

Kelly Allen, Membership Manager for BEMA had an opportunity to ask Ms. Lindsey a few questions about herself and the organization.

Q: What is Corbion most known for?

A: Corbion is most known for pioneering and revolutionizing solutions that enable the baking industry to manufacture and distribute their consumer products through innovation.

Q: Would you like to share something new or innovative that your company has done recently?

A: We just updated our global strategy and we are focusing on “Preserve What Matters” This encompasses not only natural food preservation platform, but reducing food waste, and safely extending shelf life, contributing to a sustainable circular economy. We are focusing on preserving food, health, and the planet.

Q: What drew your company to join BEMA? What resources have you found most valuable?

A: BEMA is an influencer in the industry that we wanted to be a part of. We have found great value in their leadership development program BEMA-U, on-site team building facilitation, baking industry indicators/metrics, IBIE, industry networking.

Q: What do you love most about the baking industry?

A: It’s Yummy – who doesn’t love bread! Baked items play an important and central role in all cultures and families, it is great to be part of that as a consumer, a scientist, a marketer, and as a supplier. Baking is a small community even though it is a large industry.

Q: What is the one thing you have missed the most during the quarantine?

A: Breaking bread with people – the realization that the human element is so important.

Q: Is there anything that you think will remain the “new normal” as a result of the Coronavirus?

A: A renewed appreciation for taking the time to engage with friends, families, others. Sharing a meal is part of this and will not be taken for granted.

Q: Please share any personal interests or volunteer activities that you enjoy.

A: I’m a bit crazy for plants and gardening – some say I’m a butterfly farmer. My family recently acquired a puppy to go along with our 18 year old dog. So life is a bit interesting.

Q: Is there anything else you would like BEMA members to know?

A: We would love to get the BEMA membership’s advice on our Corbion Fresh Perspective podcast and news as well as our digital publication, “The Baker’s Take.” Always looking for new ideas, topics and guests!
