Sergio Caballero is the Regional Sales Manager for FoodTools. He is responsible for handling the sales and business development in the Western USA and Canada. Sergio serves on the Baking Industry Forum and in an active member of the Membership Value & Engagement Committee. He also co-moderates the quarterly Sales Professional Roundtable. Kelly Allen, Sr. Manager of Membership & Meetings for BEMA, had an opportunity to ask Mr. Caballero a few questions about himself and the organization.
Q: What is FoodTools most known for?
A: FOODTOOLS is a food equipment manufacturing company focused in the portioning industry. We have been manufacturing machines since 1983 with offices in the USA, China and UK.
Q: Would you like to share something new or innovative that your company has done recently?
A: We continue to develop equipment that helps our customers automate their process with less labor involved. If you are interested in learning more about what we do, reach out to me so we can discuss further.
Q: What drew your company to join BEMA? What resources have you found most valuable?
A: We have been members of BEMA for a long time now. There are multiple things that we love about being part of BEMA. We get the opportunity to meet with Bakers and the networking with others is so valuable. Being part of BIF has also allowed me to work with other industry professionals to discuss the issues we face and how we can make what we do stronger.
Q: What do you love most about the baking industry?
A: With more than 20 plus years in the industry I love everything about it. The baking industry is like a big family and we are all here to help each other. Plus you get to eat some of the best bread and desserts in the world!!!!
Q: What is the one thing you have missed the most during the quarantine?
A: Seeing everyone at industry events and meetings. Looking forward to that day when we can all walk into a trade show and talk about what’s new or even get drinks together.
Q: Is there anything that you think will remain the “new normal” as a result of the Coronavirus?
A: I sure hope not…I think if you would have asked me 6 months ago I would have said Zoom meetings. But after a year of online meetings I am over it and ready to meet in person!
Q: Please share any personal interests or volunteer activities that you enjoy.
A: I have recently been working with Frosh / JV baseball for our local high school as an assistant coach. Those of you that know me, know that I love baseball and coaching!
Q: Is there anything else you would like BEMA members to know?
A: Angels are going to win the World Series this year!! Go Halos!
